New films promoting Belgium
Two new films entitled 'Belgium… beyond expectations' – one of them aimed at the world of enterprise, the other at the general public – have been released to promote Belgium abroad.
The emphasis of the film for the general public is on geographic and cultural diversity – ranging from the country’s cultural heritage to contemporary art, architecture and fashion – and the Belgian way of life. (Length: 6 minutes 12 seconds)
The film for businesses turns the spotlight on five major assets of Belgium: highly developed R&D, Belgium’s strategic location, the know-how available there, its status as the ideal test market and the country’s quality of life. (Length: 7 minutes 35 seconds)
Both films will be shown in the Belgian Pavilion at the World Expo in Shanghai from 1 May 2010 until the end of the exhibition. The two films will also be used at various official occasions and festivities during the six-month Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the second half of 2010.
The films make effective use of music written by composer Wim Mertens, who gave his composition the title Œuvrer (meaning ‘working on producing something important’), which in his view captured the Belgian lifestyle.
The film was produced on behalf of the FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister.
