A birth is a unique event. It brings significant changes in the parents’ lives. It is therefore essential that all aspects of the birth are considered.
Significant administrative arrangements must be made before and after the birth. You must apply for the birth grant and family allowances, organise leave (maternity, paternity, co-maternity) and, where applicable, make a statement acknowledging the child.
After the child is born, you must register the birth with the civil registrar in the municipality in which your child was born or at the maternity unit.
