Sustainable Development Goals

What are the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

On 25 September 2015, the United Nations adopted its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This Agenda contains 17 Sustainable Development Goals, around which actions will have to be taken over the next 15 years. The goals are universal, concern both developing and developed countries and are interconnected. If we are to ensure a viable and sustainable future for our planet and its people by 2030, change is essential.

An information-gathering tool

As part of these Sustainable Development Goals, the Federal Institute for Sustainable Development has created a website containing all the information related to the SDGs in Belgium. Here you will find information on Belgian and international sustainable development policies. The website in question also provides you with communication materials: a general 4-minute video about the 17 objectives, an informative brochure, the official UN logos, etc.

A guide to SDG initiatives in Belgium

In addition to providing information, the website encourages citizens to take action. Companies, trade unions, mutual societies, NGOs, schools, youth movements, citizens, etc. that organise events or are committed to the SDGs will be highlighted on the website. It makes all initiatives related to the SDGs visible. In addition, initiatives that combine several SDGs of different categories (Population, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnerships) are to be awarded a Belgian SDG label, a quality label in terms of sustainable development.

Contribute to the SDGs by publishing your event, project, commitment or other on the website.
